A tasty alternative to traditional chocolate chip cookies
I suppose that everyone knows the american-style chocolate chip cookies: crunchy outside and soft inside, combined with the wonderful taste of chocolate chips. To make these cookies a bit more healthy, I usually add oats and it actually taste even better. So, enjoy!
Yield: around 15 medium size cookies
Ingredients:
- 80g minced oats
- 80g flour
- 80g butter (at room temperature )
- 80g brown or white sugar
- 60-50g chocolate chips or chocolate (I used dark chocolate chopped into small pieces )
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg
- optional: chopped nuts, raisins
Step by step
- Preheat your oven to 200ºC.
- In a large bowl mix butter, sugar and an egg, then add flour and minced oats, baking soda and chocolate chips as the last ingredient.
- To make the dough easier to work, you can let it cool it down for up to 30min.
- With the help of a spoon, form the cookie dough into balls. Place on a lined tray. Flatten slightly. I usually make them medium size, around 8-9cm in diameter.
- Bake them for 10-12min or until golden brown.
- When you take them out of the oven, they will feel a bit too soft, but don’t worry, they will become crunchier once they cool down.
Enjoy!
